Welcome to the Informal Ladies Bible Study where, led by Lisa MacDonald we seek to go deeper in our relationship with God, to pray and put our faith into action as He leads. As well as seeking to support & encourage one another, our heart is to be a blessing and a positive influence in the lives of others. Our main areas of focus are:
Ladies Bible Study
1. Mission – at home and away
We pray for and give as we are enabled, to a number of missionaries both from the Island and from other parts of the UK as they serve God in various countries. Also, for the first time we are sponsoring on a monthly basis an Asian national with ‘Gospel for Asia’ as she seeks to spread the Good News amongst her own people.
The situations of Christians in countries where they are not free to follow the Lord are always a focus and we receive regular updates from various agencies which help us to pray more intelligently.
At Christmas time, as we are made aware of various local needs, we love to be able to make up and distribute hampers of food and gifts. We send Christmas cards to Christians in other countries who are persecuted for their faith and also to those in prison a bit closer to home.
When do you meet?
10am-12noon every Wednesday morning of term time in Martin’s Memorial Church hall.
Do I have to belong to Martin’s Memorial Church in order to attend?
Not at all, we have ladies coming along from a number of other churches in the town.
What does a typical meeting look like?
It can vary, depending on the time of year, absence etc but generally, we begin with a catch up over coffee & biscuits. We then move to a time of study followed by prayer for individuals and situations that we are aware of. Before we know it, it’s time to tidy up and go home.
Hopefully the above will give you a flavour of who we are and what we are about – a group of ordinary women of all ages, seeking to serve God and others. But don’t take our word for it, come along and see for yourself and be blessed!
